2nd Story’s COVID-19 Policy

As of April 2024, 2nd Story has removed the proof-of-vaccination policy for Season 25 shows and events. Our plan is to revisit this policy at the start of each season.

Mask Policy

Following state and city guidelines, 2nd Story has lifted mask requirements for artists. 2nd Story does, however, strongly encourage masks at all events.

Staff, artists, and audience members may continue to wear masks for a variety of reasons, so please continue to be kind and considerate of others.

Please note that 2nd Story performers may perform unmasked. We are currently leaving this decision up to the performer. Please know that performers are be staged apart from the audience, and stories are less than 15-minutes in length.

Health & Wellness Policy

2nd Story acknowledges that social norms in response to the pandemic are evolving, and the health and safety of our community remains priority.

2nd Story acknowledges that COVID-19 continues to disproportionately impact many communities, including disabled folks and those of the global majority.

Please review the CDC's guidance on "How to Protect Yourself & Others" from COVID-19.

Venue Information

2nd Story is an itinerant company, and we perform at various venues throughout and around Chicago. We strive to provide updated information around a particular venue’s COVID-19 policies and risk mitigation strategies in advance of each show. This information is communicated in advance via email to all ticket holders.

In general, 2nd Story will have disposable masks and hand sanitizer readily available.

Risk

COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death.

There is always a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any place where people are gathered. By purchasing a ticket to, or attending a 2nd Story performance, audience members voluntarily assume all risks associated with COVID-19 exposure.

Agreements

By purchasing a ticket to the event, audience members agree to comply with 2nd Story’s COVID-19 policies and any local ordinances, as well as any additional guidance given by the venue at the time of arrival. As ordinances, statistics, and sentiments change, 2nd Story will always strive to make the more cautious choice. By purchasing tickets, audience members also agree not to attend the performance if they feel unwell, exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, have had their first positive COVID-19 test less than 10 days of the performance, or have had close contact with anyone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19. If you are unsure, 2nd Story recommends using the CDC’s Isolation and Exposure Calculator.
