A Great Way To Master the Basics - 6 Week Class

Workshop Information

This 6-week class focuses on building the skills necessary for crafting a great first person story. This is a class for all levels and digs into scene, dialogue, sensory details, narrative distance, and making the personal universal, featuring short, fun exercises to improve all aspects of your writing. Expect to come away with several story starts and the motivation to finish them! Solid skill building for more experienced writers, and an introduction for those who haven’t done a lot of short story creation before.

Participation is $300.

What to Expect:

2nd Story Headquarters is located at the corner of Lawrence and Sacramento. Please know this is a new location; we moved in November 2016. We're pleased to announce the new place is fully ADA accessible. There is plenty of street parking and is very close to both the Francisco Brown Line and the 81 Bus Line off Sacramento.

Earliana McLaurin

Earliana is a Chicago-based actor, writer, teaching artist, and co-Director of Education for 2nd Story. As an actor, Earliana has worked with several Chicago theatre companies including Steppenwolf Garage Series, Prologue Theatre Company, Livewire Theatre, and Hell in a Handbag Productions.  Earliana is also a passionate solo artist whose credits include:  Miss Mattie’s Story (Stories Connect Us All 2013 Festival), Bubbling Lights (Side Project Theatre 2012 Choosing to Be Here Storytelling Festival), and Quit Being So Overdramatic! (Stockyards Theatre Project: 2008 Women’s Performance Art Festival). Earliana is a graduate of Truman State University and the University of Missouri.
