Sara Kerastas

Sara Kerastas is the Education Director for About Face Theatre, where she runs the Education Outreach Program as well as the Youth Theatre. With AFYT, she has directed the youth main stage show Queertopia: The Anti-Violence Project; served as a co-director for Fast Forward; and is currently writing (and developing), What’s The T, a new play that examines the distribution queer space in Chicago, focusing on trans experiences. She received her B.A. in English-Drama & Theatre and Women’s Studies from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. In 2010, she received a Windy City Times 30 Under 30 Award for the leadership demonstrated through her work at About Face Theatre and her other artistic work. Sara is a regular writer, director and storyteller with 2nd Story, Chicago’s urban storytelling theatre company. She performs and creates and dreams with the queer performance collective GOLDMINE.
