Mike Gebert

Michael Gebert is a James Beard Award-winning producer of food videos and food writer and journalist in Chicago. He is the editor of Grub Street Chicago, a daily food news blog owned by New York magazine, and the creator of Sky Full of Bacon, a nationally acclaimed video podcast and blog about food which was named one of Saveur’s “Sites We Love.” He has written for Chicago and national publications including the Chicago Reader, Time Out Chicago and Saveur.com.

He produces the video portion of the Reader’s Key Ingredient series, a chef’s challenge series which has starred notable chefs from Grant Achatz to Stephanie Izard to “Hot Doug” Sohn. It won a James Beard Foundation Award in 2011 for Best Multimedia Feature, and he has been nominated two other times, most recently for the Sky Full of Bacon video “A Barbecue History of Chicago.” He was also a founder of LTHForum, the local food chat site.

He lives in Chicago with his wife and two sons, who think it’s normal when the chef invites you into the kitchen during a meal.
