Jacob Mueller

Jay is a longtime LGBTQ activist, educator and administrator and was one of the earliest presenters of T101-type lectures/trainings in Illinois. He was the first full-time employee at the UIC Gender and Sexuality Center (circa 1995–then known as the OGLBC–later OGLBTC), was the PRIDE@UIC advisor for 8 years (undergraduate queer student group); and shares the UIC Safe Zone founder award presented in 2012. His current work is around cultural competencies and power dynamics utilizing intergroup dialog.  He believes in the power of story-telling to change lives, as we are all the story teller and the story. He has read his own poetry and prose publicly, but this show with 2nd Story marks his debut as a public story-teller, unless you count staff meetings at UIC. He lives in Chicago with his partner, her awesome daughters, and several annoying pets and has an MEd emphasizing adolescent development and urban education.
