Deborah Hines

Deborah is a South Sider, transplanted to the strange land of the North Side. She’s been a make-up artist, spa manager, esthetician, typesetter, long distance telephone operator, but always—since childhood—she’s been a writer. She’s told her stories at Columbia College’s Story Week, 2nd Story’s Intensive Writing Workshop and at Royal Souls in Rogers Park, where she shares hosting responsibilities. She also appears with threecatproductions at the Berger Park Cultural Center in Edgewater. Twice she’s been admitted into Northwestern’s MA/MFA Apprentices Writing Program.

She’s a participant in The Center for Education and Engagement at the Goodman Theatre’s GeNarrations and Intergens programs, and is a proud member of the Chicago Public Library’s Lincoln-Belmont Branch Writing Group. Deborah earned her BA with an English major and a French minor and worked on a Master’s in Creative Writing. She is thrilled to make her storytelling debut this season with 2nd Story.
